Hingham Youth Football

For the second year Hingham Youth Football will be participating in the NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK competition. It will be held Sunday August 1st 10am at Lynch Field

The NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK (PPK) program is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 to compete separately against their peers. Established in 1961, the PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.

Girls and boys in five separate age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum.  The PPK program is free – both to organizers who host a local competition and to every youngster who wants to participate!

With more than three million boys and girls from around the country taking part in PPK competitions every year from July through January, it is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs.

 For all registered Hingham Youth Football Tackle Players: South Shore Youth Football Program registration is now open. Program date is Monday August 9th - Thursday August 12th with the Raindate of Friday August 13th.  Hingham Youth Football Local Winners in the NFL Pass Punt & KIck competition held in August  to compete in the sectionals in Stoughton on 11/14/2009 at 11 am 605 Washington St. (Community Field behind Family Dollar Store across from Shaw's)

Remember cleats are not permitted-sneakers should be worn. Also bring a copy of your birth certificate (Just in case)

 HYF is part of the Old Colony Youth Football League which is a competitive league and unlike some other youth sports, playing time is not equal. As a way to provide the most playing time possible for each child in our program, HYF has committed to participate in Junior Varsity (JV) games so that players who don't start on Sunday will receive as much playing time in "game conditions" as possible. The JV games, which are played on Saturdays, are a great chance for the players who practice all week, often as the scout team for the Varsity, to play in their own game with their Varsity teammates cheering them on.

This developmental approach is particularly important with the younger players as they are still learning about playing full contact football and can gain valuable experience playing in these JV games. Ultimately, the most important thing is that every child in our program, regardless of their current skill level, feels that he is a valued member of the team and that his hard work is recognized and appreciated by his coaches & teammates.
